Weekly Grab

This is my weekly compilation of photos and prompts. If you’d like to see these delivered daily to your inbox when they’re first released, including some subscriber only exclusives, consider supporting my work with a paid Substack subscription ($5 monthly, only $36 annually). Thanks for following my curiosity journey.

Stay curious, preferably with a camera in hand.

Choices

An abundance of choice is fine when the stakes are low, when the risk of choosing incorrectly doesn’t force us to give up much. But, as the cost of being wrong escalates, having even more than one choice can be paralyzing. Something to consider if we’re the ones making the offering. Perhaps it’s better to be very specific instead. Then, we’ve gotten all of the choices out of the way up front.

Window

Opportunity isn’t trying to avoid us. It doesn’t have a mind of its own. Mostly, it’s about us and our inability to see the window. It’s there…we just need to decide to see it.

Fences

They can keep us in…or out. Either way, the intention is to separate safe from unsafe. Of course, safe isn’t always as safe as it seems. Status quo demands safe. Change requires crossing the line occasionally. A good place to start is to ask, “what’s the fence for?”

Drink

Replenish, energize, sustain, live, preserve…to create, learn, give, enjoy, fail, help.

We are all fuel dependent. And, so is our work. Drink.

Gap

Sometimes, pieces fit together better when there’s an intentional gap. But, leaving division to chance is far less effective. Designing with harmony in mind is a good first step in making things and people work together peacefully. Mind the gap.

Cover

There are times when a cover is a good thing, necessary even. But, think of the times when we seek cover due to our own insecurity and fear of being wrong. Taking responsibility through clarity and openness is a courageous and generous act. Deflection on the other hand is not.

Providing cover might be a better choice than taking it.
