Weekly Grab

This is my weekly compilation of photos and prompts. If you’d like to see these delivered daily to your inbox when they’re first released, including some subscriber only exclusives, consider supporting my work with a Substack subscription (also complimentary, but donations welcome). Thanks for following my curiosity journey.

Stay curious, preferably with a camera in hand.

Natural

We’ve established a nice luster is better than dull. Hence, we often add shiny to make it more attractive, sometimes with disappointing results. Occasionally, we’re fortunate, and it just appears on its own.

Natural is almost always better than made-up.

Delight

What does unexpected delight look like? Whatever we’re setting out to do or to put out into the world might be better if we give this question some serious consideration.

Ultimately, it’s the goal…isn’t it?

Anticipation

We spend a lot of time thinking forward, wishing, hoping, trying to achieve and get more.

What happens if we reflect more about what we already have? What if we retune to being more connected with the present?

Wish And

Wishes rarely come true. They’re often big and unsupported with action. There’s just too much left to chance. A better strategy might be to dream and decide…to choose to start, stop or act differently. The key is to put something into motion so our wish has a better chance for success. The alternative is to hope and do nothing else.

Restore

We generate a lot of waste. It’s piling up. It can’t be good.

What alternatives can we consider going forward? How can we incorporate reuse and restoration into our designs and strategy?

Inventory

The end of the year is a good time to take inventory. What’s in these bags?

  • Values
  • Skills
  • Dreams

What is it time to let go of? What will we add, improve or remove next year? And most importantly, who can we tell to become more accountable?

Old vs. New

The nice thing about time is we can set markers to see where we’ve been, what we’ve done and how we’ve lived. The downside is we can’t go back and change anything. And, this is precisely why the new is so exciting. It’s unclear, yet full of possibility. Reflecting on the past is a good thing…especially if we use it as inspiration and motivation to take advantage of the moments ahead of us. Whether we get one more new or a thousand, the opportunity is the same…use it or lose it. There’s no going back.

New is here…what will we do with it?
