Waste
Excess, something not needed, useless, undesired and often the result of a mistake.
In a perfect world, there isn’t anything left over to toss. All of our time is well spent, energy matches output and we consume everything produced. Alas, the world is far from perfect. So, we get to choose (what to do with our waste). But first, we need to decide what wasteful looks and feels like.
What have you wasted today? What can you do differently tomorrow?

Knead
Some of our work requires kneading, some working of the ingredients to make them more pliable and harmonious with each other. People are like this too. Teams are rarely effective right out of the gate. There’s a process needed to achieve greater chemistry and eventual productiveness. Forming is often overlooked, but quite essential. Like dough, it’s impossible to make bread without it.

Seek
A big part of moving forward, growing and achieving goals is to seek out new challenges, and to do so with intention. Becoming curious isn’t happen stance. It requires purpose and action. What habits can we build to move us in the right direction? Or, any direction for that matter.
Here are a few ideas to get you started.

Brittle
Even the most harsh and challenging of us have smoothness somewhere. Perhaps our best gift is to help them see it.

Lit
Drawing attention to, highlighting in some way, is natural when we’re hoping to be seen. It’s especially useful if what’s on offer isn’t particularly noticeable on its own. But, this begs some questions…
What are we highlighting which might distract us from doing something more important, more useful?
What remarkable work are we doing which doesn’t need to be lit to get noticed? How can we do more of this?

Abandoned
Empty, lonely, broken, dirty, lost, forgotten.
Someone is feeling this today. Maybe we can help. Choosing to see it is the first step.
Find someone who looks lost. They might be closer than you think.

Selection
When is it too many? How do we know how to organize? Of course, it depends. Some people like to browse, let their curiosity take over and hopefully stumble onto something new. The bigger the shelf, the better. Others might be there searching for something specific, where highly organized selections are helpful.
The beauty of having a big shelf is there’s usually something for everyone and a surprise or two for someone. The downside of large selections is they’re expensive to maintain. And, more and more of us don’t take the time to browse anymore. We just want what we want, and want it now. The shelf actually gets in the way.
If you’re lucky enough to find a collection, browse a little. And thank the proprietor for making the leap.
