Weekly Grab

This is my weekly compilation of photos and prompts. If you’d like to see these delivered daily to your inbox when they’re first released, including some subscriber only exclusives, consider supporting my work with a Substack subscription. Thanks for following my curiosity journey.

Stay curious, preferably with a camera in hand.

Boardwalk

Sometimes, our path is clear, laid out right in front of us. There seems to be little choice but to follow the prescribed route. But, there’s almost always a choice, even if it’s not as clear.

Stay curious. Always be on the lookout for alternatives…just in case.

Portable

It’s an added inconvenience to being our work to someone. And, this might be precisely the reason to do it.

When it’s inconvenient for us, it’s more likely to delight someone else.

View

We can’t see more unless we change our view. Understanding often comes with a change of perspective, which requires choosing to see things differently.

Change the view more often. Can’t hurt.

Process

There’s probably more to our work than people know. There are hundreds, maybe thousands, of small things which need to happen in order of it to show up the way it does, not to mention the practice and reps required to develop the necessary skills.

Sometimes, it pays to show off what’s behind the curtain. The story makes the work even better.

Glimmer

Sometimes, the light at at the end of the tunnel is quite obvious. Mostly though, it’s not so clear. Life’s wonderful moments rarely come easy. We need to do some work, look for the clues and glimmers to keep us going. It’s quite a journey…thankfully.

Route

Generally, people like interesting, unless they’re in a hurry.

It’s hard to experience life if we’re always in the fast lane. It pays to get off the highway once in a while.

Handcrafted

Most things claiming to be homemade really aren’t, at least not anymore mainly because handcrafted doesn’t scale very well. The cost of doing one more is almost as much as doing the first one. The choice then is to stay small, serving a limited audience who’s in love with what you’re doing. Or, to grow through simulation and industry to garner the economic benefits of serving more. Both can be good paths. But, only one stays true to the original promise. Choose wisely.
