Weekly Grab

This is my weekly compilation of photos and prompts. If you’d like to see these delivered daily to your inbox when they’re first released, including some subscriber only exclusives, consider supporting my work with a Substack subscription. Thanks for following my curiosity journey.

Stay curious, preferably with a camera in hand.

Vacancy

Is there room for more? Just because we have the capacity doesn’t mean we should take it on. Perhaps, we’re better served by allowing some space and some time for reflection. Maybe our projects become better, the team gets better…we become better.

Maybe we should turn the “no” sign on even when there’s room for more. In what ways can some extra space benefit you right now?

Armor

There are two types of protection. The ones we can see. And, the invisible kind, the barriers we put up which keep people from understanding how we really feel.

Silence is a useful tool in communication. But overused, and there’s no hope of us seeing the real you. Share thoughts generously. But only with intention to make things better for someone.

Words

Of course they matter. Otherwise, would we notice?

Curios

Interesting, intriguing, worth a closer look. Maybe not for everyone. But, for someone. And this may be all it takes.

Standard

We can seek to fit in, follow along, stay safe and be “normal”. Alternatively, we can shun the regular kind and become one of the crazy ones. Choose curiously.

Serious Fun

Serious has its role. But, so does fun. Combining the two might be worth trying now and again.

Taking ourselves too seriously doesn’t usually end well. Adding some playfulness might be a good thing. Don’t forget rule number 6.

Viral

This was one of the most talked about advertising campaigns in the USA. And, it was long before the dawn of the internet. Back in the 1920’s through the early 60’s, Burma Shave created something remarkable, something interesting and a bit daring. They used humor in an unexpected way by creating a roadside billboard campaign which made long car rides, especially through those long boring stretches, worth the trip. Product sales rose. But, the lesson here is to own an edge, to create something worth talking about…for longer than a fleeting moment.
