Small
The stage we live our life on is pretty grand. But, it’s even larger than we realize, endless in fact. Space and time have no boundaries as we know them. So, it’s good to occasionally broaden our view to regain perspective.
Our parts are pretty small in the grand scheme of it all, perhaps even insignificant. A good thing to recall the next time we take ourselves so seriously.

Shortcuts
There are two primary ways to roast a marshmallow. One requires patience and careful attention to the rotation and height over the flame. The other is a bit of a shortcut, allowing the marshmallow to catch on fire and then either consuming the char or discarding it, leaving less to enjoy. Both methods are acceptable depending on taste. But, only one rewards the extra time, focus and attention.
When is it acceptable to take a shortcut? Well, like many things, it probably depends.

Faith
There’s no certainty in faith. But, it’s precisely the lack of a sure thing which makes our desires, dreams and hopes so powerful. We show up because it might work. We keep going because it might just happen again.

Studied
When is it museum worthy? At what point is something interesting enough to merit study?
What’s our story? Are we worth studying and learning about?

Movements
Communities thrive through connection and the sharing of ideas and experiences. It’s more than just getting people together. It’s the celebration of a purpose, a cause and a desire to do things together vs. apart.
Movements are more than gatherings. They have a head of steam. Starting a movement begins with a gathering of people passionate around a central idea. Once it becomes so remarkable that we can’t image not being part of it, it really gains momentum.
They’re hard to start. But, equally hard to stop.

Raising the Bar
…is often associated with making things more challenging for setting a mark to strive for. But, it’s also a signal to proceed, to give it our best shot and to make our way forward.
The magic of lofty goals (unlike railroad crossings) is that achievement is uncertain, which almost always ensures our best effort. Along the way, we succeed, we fail, we get creative. And sometimes if we’re lucky, the bar gets raised again.

Along for the Ride
Everyone has a role. Leaders, followers and those just along for the ride. But, someone needs to decide what the ride looks like, feels like and who it’s for. Someone needs to curate the experience.
Creativity isn’t reserved for the chosen few. It’s reserved for those which dare to do it. Might as well be you.
