Hopeless

Hope is more like magic…something we can believe in if we choose to. It fuels sustainability, persistence and sometimes survival. Helpless, on the other hand, is something to work very hard to try and avoid. It’s often a condition we create for ourselves, and where hope may be the only way out.

Blocked

We have many choices in response to an unexpected barrier. The one we use most often is disappointment. What if we reframed these surprises into delightful possibilities?

How fascinating!

Show

Our society spends a lot of time on how we’re seen, making things just right for the showing to the rest of the world. And, we spend an inordinate amount of time on the material things, caring deeply about which brands to align ourselves with. Of course, all of this theatre of stuff pales in comparison to how we act, who we keep as friends and where we choose to work and play.

In the end, our legacy will have come more from wisdom, love, respect and generosity than all of the things we left behind.

Relocate

Need to change? Sometimes, the best option is to change our scenery. Maybe, it’s just for a day or two. Or, perhaps more permanently. Regardless, there’s probably no better way to alter our perspective than to immerse ourselves in a new community and culture.

Move to another place…it’s good fuel for the curious soul, heart and mind.

Attention

In days gone by, we grabbed attention with something odd, not easily found elsewhere. But, what to do when strange is the norm, when it can be found everywhere with a click?

What’s the cost of wasting someone’s time? Or, is the show itself worth a look?

Puzzled

It’s really hard to begin a puzzle from the middle. The best approach is to start with the parts which are the most straightforward and make the most sense…the edges. Then, move on to the higher variation pieces, sorting them by color and design. This strategy does two things. It reduces the amount of independent problems to solve. And, provides context, both for the larger picture, and between the pieces themselves.

All of our problems are puzzles. But, too often we jump to trying to solve the hardest, most complicated, parts first. Perhaps we should first find the edges, eliminate the simple and obvious and strive to see the bigger picture. It might just make the situation less puzzling.

Repairs

We all need them from time to time. Physically, mentally and spiritually. Who do we lean on? Better yet, who are we in service to? Who’s counting on us for their repairs?

Perhaps a simple random act is enough for a quick fix. It doesn’t always need to be an overhaul. A simple smile might be just what the doctor ordered.
