Paying for use is not a recent invention. It’s been around as long as people could solve someone’s problem. But, charging for a need (perhaps even a right) vs. someone’s desire brings on additional challenges, i.e., affordability, equal access, etc.
What seems absurd to some, might be quite appropriate to others. What’s interesting is how we can rationalize whichever side we’re on. Choose wisely.
