Crowds

It’s convenient to think about the crowd we’ll serve. In our minds, it’s easy to fast forward to the many before doing the hard work of finding a few. We can easily fall in love with the delight and success of the hundreds, maybe thousands of people who are thrilled with what we do. But, almost no one is lucky enough to have an instant hit. Instead, there’s the slog of finding the first one, which might lead to a second one and so on. And, eventually, if everything works, we might see the crowd. But, in the meantime, it’s drip, drip.

Are we patient enough, resilient enough? Do we have the mental, physical and financial wherewithal to see it through? How can we reframe the crowd as individuals who have specific needs and desires? How do we best serve the crowd of one?
