No Fear

Most decisions aren’t cut and dry, like crossing the road. The hazards and obstacles associated with our project, crucial conversation or first date aren’t as simple or clear. Most of our fear with these non life threatening acts is invented, ironically to keep us from moving forward. It’s not based on real facts and probabilities. It’s based on what we fear about failure. And, this is almost always exaggerated and dramatized. And, so it can keep us from going.

But, no fear is problematic as well. Being too cavalier and overconfident has its own downsides. The turtle’s decision to cross the road isn’t complicated by fear. It just goes…

The ability to navigate and dance with fear so it can serve us and our endeavors is the skill we need to develop. Simply abandoning fear isn’t the answer. Rather, it’s more helpful to discern which part of the fear is real, and then using this knowledge as leverage to serve meaningful change.
