The key to achieving an acceptable outcome is to start with good raw materials. But, it goes beyond the kitchen or factory. Talent, ideas, skills and habits might be raw. They have yet to be honed, molded or developed. The people themselves might also be raw with little to no experience. But, in all these cases, what we start with must be of high quality to be useful. In the case of a person, it starts with character, values, ability and beliefs. If we choose well, we stand a better than average chance to do something great. If we settle for mediocre, we deserve what we get. Choose raw materials wisely.
