The earliest birthday cakes were used to celebrate the young or the old (50 ish back then). Now, it’s become commonplace and almost expected. But still, the cake, card, candles and song are symbols. We’re going out of our way to put on a show, to call attention to you and your special day. Of course, we could do it without the cake. But, some of the impact might be lost. And there wouldn’t be any frosting.
