Everything we do has constraints. Some are imagined or predicted. Others are physical, real boundaries in place to have us think and move in a certain direction. Sometimes, adding constraints results in a better outcome as in directional lighting or jet flight. But, in the creative process, in the exploration stage, less can lead to more. Free play might be the constraint we’re looking for.
